No sound after expolsive Pop

Post by OneZero » Tue Apr 04, 2006 5:13 pm

Hi everybody -
I've been having a technical problem with one of my mixes.

I'm getting an explosive pop when I reach the same spot of a song and then the audio cuts out and the transport stops. If I press play again, the transport starts, but there is no sound. When I close the session ( this is on a DAW btw) there is another pop, presumedly the outputs turning back on.

Originally I thought i had too much automation going on. I had something like 8 tacks muted that I wanted to un-mute all at the same time. So I changes all the automation on those tracks to be turned down and then as a group all come up at the same time. This was working for quite a while, but now, recently, it has started the poping and cutting out again at the same place as before.

It has only been happening with this one file.

Can anybody tell me what my problem might be? Could this be a corrupt file? Corrupt preferences?

My set up is 001 w/ Mac G4 OS9

thanks in advance

There is a chance someone has seen this exact problem and can tell you how to fix it, but odd are you will need to narrow down the possibilites a bit.

Have you tried to find the minimum configuration that causes this problem? Delete your tracks one by one and see if at some point the problem stops. Do the same thing with the effects until you have removed everything you can and still have the problem.

Of course I am assuming you arent using any cracked plugins...

Do a "save as" and consolidate all the tracks. ( option>shift>3 )

Turn the automation off.

Delete the master fader.

Try again.

Then do what was written above: delete until it stop's freaking out...

Nope. No Cracked plugg ins.

what I ended up doing was a Save As, and Wha La! No more problem.
