HA! Good sense of humor.

I'm looking into the shinybox myself but a search around here has some really good threads on them.

As for SP...I tried a B3 once and HATED it SO bad! I couldn't find anything it sounded good on whatsoever....very hyped and nasty. I don't have good feelings on SP in general. That's just me.

I have one of each!

I have a ShinyBox 23 standard, and it's great!

I have a StudioProjects C1, and it's ok. A bit brittle in the highs, but useable in many circumstances.

I frequently like my Oktava Mk319 on many things I've tried using an LDC on. It's much darker sounding than the C1.

So far, I have liked the 23 on everything that I've put it on.
Musicians are cowards.

I have a Shinybox 46 and really like it.
Price to performace, it is a great deal.
I know nothing of the Studio Projects mics, but something about them always turned me off, go figure.

I have a SP B3 that I use for quite a bit of stuff - it's used for the fig-8 in M/S micing, and in omni for female vocals (it really smooths out those kind voices one could call, ahem, strident... ). I like it a lot.

Never heard of the Shinybox.. Is that for real? Good lord, what a crappy name.

No it's a great name, they come in a great big shiny box! It's the only mic that my current client knows by name, she keeps asking if we're using the ShinyBox.

But seriously, I have a ShinyBox 23 with the Cinemag transformer, and it's a very cool mic for the price. Have used it on acoustic gtr, on cheap crappy transistor guitar amps, on vocals for an "older" vibe, and, one of my fave uses, as a front of kit/room mic, about 6 feet out and about level with the top of the kik. One one track, I'm using this as the only drum mic.

The ShinyBox proprieter posts here as Fum.
