can anyone suggest a tech in nyc?

Post by kakumei47 » Fri May 05, 2006 6:08 pm

looking for someone to:
a) come to my space to do tape path and tension calibration and troubleshooting on my ms-16. I can go somewhere too, i'd just prefer not to move it around and f it up.

b) someone for old rack gear. i have an ampex 350 that needs love, and some comps and stuff that are intermittant.

of course cheap is good, but i'd rather have it done right...
my space is in williamsburg...

It depends on how much you want to spend, of course.

(not in any order)

Nat Priest.
Jeff Dellbello.
John Charette.

Call the guys up at Exile (purple/john klett/andrew roberts/ed anderson).

There is contact info on the Prple Audio site. they are in LIC. They will probably have someone you could call if not them..

Got to add in one of the best - Dan Zellman.
A serious veteran tech with a ton of knowledge. He keeps all of the stuff running at Sear Sound and Looking Glass, and on top of that did some of the coding for the URS plugins too. He did some repairs and custom mods on my NTP179-120 comps and has done house calls to my place in Greenpoint so I'm pretty sure he could get you up and running too.

You can pm me at steve at invert dot org if you need his contact info,

Best regards,
Steve Berson

Duh. Forgot Dan. The only guy qualified to touch our Studer "east of the mississippi..."

Andrew roberts at purple said Dan was the only guy he would let touch a Studer... we listened..

Don't bother calling Purple. Andrew doesn't do tech work anymore and refers most callers to Dan Zellman, when apropriate.
