STOMPBOXES: where AND how do you keep them in the studio
STOMPBOXES: where AND how do you keep them in the studio
I've begun to amass a decent collection of pedals (15 or so). I was thinking of building a case to display them and keep them safe. I was also thinking about portability and how I could solve that issue.
How do you guys keep your pedals, and how do you transport them?
Thanks,
Jcooke

I don't have quite so many pedals, so I just use the Rubbermaid bins.

I'm not concerned about theft since I just record in my room and at friends' houses. I do however want a way to transport them without them getting all scratched. (I bought a bunch of EH pedals new and I like the way they look, and sound!)
I do live near an ikea so I can check that out. I like the idea of the glass case, unfortunately my room is too small right now. Maybe some day in the future though.
Thanks for the ideas, keep them coming.

As for transporting them, how about something like this?

It's like the aluminum storage cases that a lot of the mic companies are using. The foam inside can be customized to fit what you're carrying. I've used these to store and transport mics and other things with great success.
Sometimes you can find these on sale for less than $20.
Just a thought. Hope this helps!

the foam is preperforated
I got one of those cases. What they do is they put a sheet of foam that takes up the whole space, but it's like die-cut with perforations into a like half-inch square grid. You just tear the bits out in the rough shape you want the opening to be. Sounds janky but it works fine.
Yup. What he said! What they do is they put a sheet of foam that takes up the whole space, but it's like die-cut with perforations into a like half-inch square grid. You just tear the bits out in the rough shape you want the opening to be. Sounds janky but it works fine.
I've also used other types of foam (i.e. seat cushion foam, etc.) to make my own custom "inserts."
