is there anyway to remove facing on 703? it is the paper facing, not the foil. and if not, is the loss of absorbancy enough to not even bother using it?
thanks yall

My understanding is that the paper facing gives you a bit more high mid reflections when facing out (NOT necessarily a bad thing...), but it has virtually no effect on low mid and bass absorption. The method of mounting the 703 had more to do with what it absorbs and how. I've never heard of anyone peeling off the paper, but there's LOTS I don't know.....
If you want the fiberglass facing out, can't you just mount it that way? Then you'll have a bit more high freq absorption as well. I believe the paper is essentially invisible to sound at that point...

Michael,

Yes, it peels right off, but you don't need to do that usually. If you want more bass absorption, leave the facing on and have it toward the room. For mid/high frequency absorption you don't need to remove it - just orient the panel so the facing is away from the room.
