i worked on getting to the studio and drinking coffee so far.... have to rehearse with Phonograph later on today. might play some bass on some tracks for Spielerfrau.

About to do some guitar tracks for a long-distance project with two friends. Waiting for the amps to warm up right now.

--A friend of mine has asked my band, Donny Who Loved Bowling, to "produce" a track on his new album, so I'm in the midst of emailing mixes back and forth between Chicago and Austin, where the other guy in Donny lives. Adding drones and textures and guitar bits, playing with delays and flangers, and waiting for the tracking engineer to send me splits--we've just been stacking stuff on top of the demo rough and would like to play with the lead vocal a bit. Don't know if the artist in question is gonna give us that much latitude.

--finally getting back to work on the "George Washington" cartoon I was doing a year ago. The producer had some other stuff to take care of so the project was shelved halfway through postproduction. Now I've got new picture, spent yesterday conforming all the existing sound and am gonna spend this afternoon putting in the rest of the effects and doing a rough mix for a client meeting tomorrow.

--tweaking some mixes for a second trip to the mastering engineer on this album project I've been doing.

--scriptwriting and movie editing tonight. Or possibly doing some advance marketing work for a future product release, we'll see what the business partner feels like doing.

--Hope to get the intern started on some archiving and filing.

well fedex just showed up with my 50 lb voltage regulat0r..

now i'm off to the barn where i stored all my crap after the eviction..
need a cable or 2 that got forgotten in the move..
this will be fun...

july 11th its off to barcelona...

First, I dropped off the final master for the soundtrack for "Another Gay Movie", coming out late next month. Fun album, includes new music from Nancy Sinatra. http://www.myspace.com/anothergaymovie

Sent out the old iPod for repair, need it next month for between set playback at a house concert.

Then I ran over to Williamsburg and picked up 11 recapped PM1000 modules.

Tonight I'm cutting vocals and mixing one simple guitar and vocal tune for a friend... should be quick and easy...

Right now, it's back to building a new server...

Sleep. I worked on and am working on sleep. I was up very late yesterday mixing a few tracks for a band called Concorde. Mixed one song in Digital Performer and one in Protools. I won't be using DP anytime soon after that. Got to play with a SPL Transient Designer and now I am lusting for one. That box rules. Also wish I had two more Distressors. I had 4 at my disposal and could've used more.

What did you work on Garges?

Re-Amped an electric guitar track through my new Pro Jr and added a little tubescreamer and tremolo to the track. The mix sounds much more even now.

Worked on getting a drum sound together from previously recorded tracks. Very happy. Gated (Edited!!!) the toms which really cleaned up the drum mix. Nothing like OH bleed to ruin a great tom sound or vice versa.

Taught a guitar lesson in the morning.
Lots of phone calls and advance work on a live recording we're doing on thursday for a British artist coming into town.

Eating leftover pasta and wishing I had more time to get to the grocery.

Saw Brian Eno talk last night with Will Wright (the inventor of the Sims) at a seminar on "playing with time," I'm trying to put my head on straight today. Those guys are way smarter than me. Feeling like I need to read more books...

Piano and backing vocals on the pop project I've been tracking the last few months on and off. The project is getting close to finishing tracking (finally).

I've got something like 30 voices happening already, it's on the verge of turning to mush but still sounds cool. Today we added a soprano and a tenor. The individual voices we've been adding lately have been done with traditional close micing instead of mid-side, I'm finding that they stand out against the mass of the overdubbed choir, and tend to imply more voices. This is going to be kind of mess to mix.

Just bought a MIDI to CV converter for my modular synth from a guy on Analog Heaven.

The local university baseball team just won the championship or something, everyone in town seems to think this is important or something.

i did some cleanup/organization of misc crap at my studio, then met up w/cgarges for a quick drink and went back to another studio and hung out and watched him do a mix from the ground up to printing - lemme tell you guys, chris really knows WTF he is doing! and is FAST. all while making it look effortless and relaxing. a very fun day (well, late night really)...
