this is from one of my favorite albums

I think Phil Spector worked on this album -- so keep that in mind : everything you hear was processed by one of the best

the guitar sound is a combination of which guitar lennon played, how he played it, the amp he played it thru, the mic he recorded it with, and the placement of the mic from the amp

you really gotta get your hands dirty if yer looking for a certain sound -- gotta try and re-try -- experiement, deconstruct, reconstruct

think about what makes this sound different from the imagined "normal" guitar sound in your head

and also know that everything used in recording this album was of the highest quality and caliber

i doubt the actual "sound" of the guitar is what is impressing you tho -- its the way hes playing, what hes playing -- its so good that it seems to have a life of its own...

i dont think its a matter of "oh, yah man, just punch the mids up a bit and there you go"

and the preamp, and the compressor, and the console it was mixed through etc...... but it think all that kidna goes without saying.:o

i wish i knew more about this session, that guitar tone is great. my fav on that album is the glassy guitar sound on the intro of crippled inside.

Great song, I think the most important part of that track is the palm muteing with the precusive strum. If you could master the strum technique I think the rest would be more or less easy.

Now on to my fav. track on that song: The first take, comming in late Bass track played half assed by(I belive) Klaus Vorman. I think he really kinnda sucks but I always remember his bass lines. Wierd, I know.

Just guessing, but it sounds like his shaved Epiphone Casino through a small Fender amp to me.

Hey, no ranking on Klaus- he only played bass on some of the greatest albums ever made.

Klaus and Ringo made a dynamite rhythm section on some of that Yoko stuff.
