I goofed on that Octane comment. I read Octane in your post but in my head I was seeing the Tampa. For eight preamps in a box with decent quality I think you are on the right track. There are a couple Presonus units that come to mind that have eight preamps and digital out. A friend of mine uses a Presonus DigiMax to record drums and is happy with it. So maybe check that out, or stick with the Octane.
