everything i have is old!

Post by Karwreck » Wed Aug 09, 2006 2:20 pm

My father and I have been collecting odd crap for almost 25 years. Here's some of our favorites:

1952 Gibson es-125
1972 Telecaster
1970 Penco Strat copy
Audio Development company circa 1960 filter set
same vintage Cinema Engineering dialogue EQ
late 70's (don't know I got it 2nd hand) U-87- is there any way to tell the age by the serial #?
1964 Fender Super Reverb
1965 Ampeg ReverbRocket
1968 Gretsch Corvette
1968 Gibson B-15
1968 Guild something or other
1980's EV 16 channel mixer with built in reverb that's so bad it's usable!
1980's BC Rich New Jersey Bass!
about 25,000 miles of old cables and speaker wire that I just can't throw away.
A Reggie Jackson baseball, signed, caught by my dad at a game at the Stadium, summer 1977. He didn't even spill his beer.

1958 Hammond M3 Organ
1959 McCurdy PE2600 Mixer

lots of other junk that doesn't work that may or may not be older.

first stuff i bought? Probably back in '87-'88 ish, an Ibanez RG540, Shure SM58 (still works great), my Fostex X-28 4-track casette recorder.

I never sell ANYTHING. My father gave me the pack-rat mentality. I still have every instrument, faulty cable, f'ing whatever. silly like that.

I guess the Hammond SI, or maybe the tiny (no really tiny, like 1"X2" each) moon lander-looking Ampex 501 speakers.

The Steinway at Cherry Sound (need pics) is from 1917.

My U47, early 1950's. (SN 16xx? I forget but my insurance company knows!)

Gibson/Ampeg/Fender amps and Fender Brown Reverb, early 1960's.

Shure and EV mics mid-late 60's early 70's.

Mid 60's Fender Coranado 12 string Electric and my Hofner Beatle Bass.

Oldest gear I have purchased by me....Ross Compressor or MXR Distortion+ late 70's and my '79 lefty Fender Strat shortly thereafter.

I know I have some tubes and transformers in my DIY gear and parts bin that's older though...
