Neotek Console

Post by TV Lenny » Wed Aug 30, 2006 7:04 am

Hello,

I need to try and identify what Neotek model I have. I am going over the board and figuring out what needs to be cleaned/replaced. All in all, the board is in near perfect condition. I believe I will be getting the manual in a few days.

Wish I had a picture but I will try and describe it as best as possible.

It has 16 channels and 4 subs. 2 more channels are ER1 & ER2. The metering has 2 LED bar graphs for I believe the master output and then LED bar graphs for each sub. The console is 4' long by 3' deep. External power supply of course. Please excuse my ignorance! I hope someone knows what model this is. I thought it was a series III but I would imagine it would say somewhere. Thanks

Try looking at the pictures of the Neotek boards on this site:

See if your board looks like any of those.

Awesome, yeah I completely forgot about that site...idiot! I even have it bookmarked...

Series III it is! Does anyone have a clue as to what a 16 channel is worth?

Probably $3000-$4000 if it works well. I've seen Elans for like $6000 this year and I bought my Elite for $9000 a few years back.

Actually it looks more like a series I or even earlier. Does anyone know anything about the Series I boards to help identify it? I am going to call Sytek with the s.n. and see if they can identify it for me. I mainly need to order replacement switches for the modules. Some of the eq switches are going.

i believe the s1s had 3 band EQ, then 1es had 4 band like the s2s.

this place should be your friend:

might also be an early "theater" console - i've seen those floating around...

the bussing matrix at the top gives the s3s away as such.

Thank you very much for the link! This will help a great deal.

I pulled one of the modules out and confirmed it is a series I. It is not the Ie. It has for eq High Pass, Low Pass, Mid, and Low Mid. Only one eq being semi parametric. But the eq sounds very nice regardless. It will take awhile to get the board to spec but so far it sounds great. Am I correct in guessing the year built around '79 to 81?

mine was that vintage, but it had solid buss wire - if yours has removable modules, it's likely a bit later, sometime in the mid 80's

those Neoteks are great - there's a blind engineer in town that uses one exlusively, not sure which model though.
