the exchange and gift giving within our "family" amougnst friend or even strangers who share a same connection is one of the awesome things about being a part of this community. I've got some cool things from some very wonderful people. I hope i can pay them back some day, without it feeling like a payback. thank you.

People try to give me the stuff that's taking up space in their house. Usually it's BS and I get a bit offended while they act like they're doing me a favor. I'm not a dumpster.

One of my cousins gave me a 1964 Blackface Fender Bassman amp. It was beat up and in need of some help but I put about $200 into new caps, tubes and a new knob and a switch or two and now it's amazing. The tube chart puts it at Sept. of 1964 which was early for the Blackface heads. I love the way it sounds.

A friend also gave me a Sm-57, while another one gave me a re-issue Tube Screamer.
Good Luck,
-e

Man, I'm just realizing that like 90% of of my shit is loaned/given/shared. It's been sweet for all the obvious reasons, not the least of which is that it's given me an opportunity to save some bread to buy more gear of my own. Gotta go and spread some thanks to my pals...

Given to me:
- AT 4050
- two Orban compressors
- behringer comPOSER
- piano
- a couple patchbays

Long ass loans/shared gear:
- Mac G5 dual over head cam whizbang dealio w/ DP 5.1 and 24" rims. has a stupid amount of plugins. really. it's crazy.
- tascam: 388 & 238
- Earthworks QTC 1's (two matched pairs!?)
- AT 4033
- Behringer LDC
- D112, 57's....
- Oktava ribbon
- beyer m160
- Wurlitzer elec piano (the one that 'sits' on the the built in spkr)
- mutron phaser (coming)
- fender concert
- fender deluxe
- roland jazz chorus (haven't used it yet. i'm sure i;'ll find somehting cool to do with it. maybe.)
- marshall head/cab (dunno the model)
- vibraphone
- full Ludwig kit
- macguyver'd api 212L pre
- hamptone tube pre's

shaaysus, thats a lotta shite. feeling glutonous all of a sudden (and lucky).

OK, I'll bite...

1963 Vibrolux Reverb amp (had it since '70 or so, but it was a gift from a friend who thought my guitar playing rated a better amp)

A classical guiter of unknown lineage and value - - my 'camping guitar'

A Systech woltage controlled flanger - from my friend Bizz Cook

A Sony consumer grade reel-to-reel from my bro-in-law

A number of IDE/ATAPI hard drives, similar computer peripherals, equipment racks - from my friend Nelson

An Audio Technica dynamic mic + stand + cord from my fomily for Christmas
(I went back and bought another, it proved to be extremely versatile & useful)

An ancient Italian accordian, from an engineer I worked with who found it at an auction and bought it to give to me. (Not sure why he thought of me, but I had some fun dicking around with it for a while...)

A sound level meter - (not a gift, a very long term loan)

An upright piano, from a guy I used to sing with in church choir (cost about $200 to move it, buy supplies and tools to fix and tune it, and a lot of time researching how to go about it - - but it was still a wonderful gift, one I use all the time)

There's probably more stuff in my 'boneyard' but that's all that comes to mind readily,

i know. i've told this before on this board. i kept the 312s and brent racked them, i kept 8 melcors and brian roth racked them. the rest of the stuff i sold and traded towards gear. 2 years later i'm still in shock. they all have 1971 stamped on them. i'm grateful daily. i love the sound going in and back out of this gear.

While working for Music123, I won an Epiphone Sheraton II (nice), Casino (which I sold because it was crappy) and an Epi Elitist Les Paul Standard Faded (sick). I also scored Live4 & 5, NI Komplete 2, my WAVES plugs (Renn Max & Musicians bundle, plus IR-L), IK's SampleTank 2XL, Sonic Synth 2, and TRacks, plus GForce's MiniMonsta and a Sennheiser e609 Silver. My MOTU rep also sent me free upgrades and a second copy of Digital Performer 4.61, plus Unisyn. Believe me, it made up for my paychecks!!! I was living off of coffee and macaroni!!! Don't worry, I have a better job now, though I miss those perks!

A really good friend of mine (bassist for Lifetime) gave me his Freeform Analog Technologies Freebass 383, which is a great sounding TB-303 clone. It was gathering dust because he has two original 303s.

My 50th anniversary Fender P-bass has floated between myself and a friend for 5 yrs. He got a new bass and I had duplicates of a few pieces of NI software (after buying Komplete 3), so I traded him straight up. Great bass.

I gave a good friend of mine a 1999 Fender Lone Star Strat that I wasn't too fond of playing. He was playing in a band at the time, I wasn't. Same story with the other friend and the P-Bass... anyway... He loved it and had it for a few years before he sold it for an SG Standard. I still drink for free when we get together.

My ex-gf recently moved to South Korea to teach for a year, and gave me a 1980 Boss CS-2 (Japanese, mint!) before she left (I bought her an iPod and loaded it up for her before she left). She also gave me a 1976 Mutron Phaser II, thrown in when I bought a 1980 MXR Phase 90 from her for $100. All were her late father's. I'm also supposed to be baby-sitting her 1974 Les Paul Custom (king of crappy but the pickups sound amazing!!!) and a trio of 1960s/1970s Gibson acoustics while she's overseas. I plan on recording with them soon.

I have 2 of drewbass' 312's. They're lovely...

Our space is the home base of a Thrill Jockey artist, and they all work with other people as well. We have stuff here on indefinite loan, often because we have space and the owners know we'll take care of and maintain stuff. It's also here when ever they need it and always ready to go. I just looked and saw a full upright, 2 Hammonds, a set of vibes, a cellest, 3 drum kits, a Wurlie 200, an EMT 140...Big stuff...the list changes from time to time, but most of the people involved don't. Sometimes things like odd mics, or a cobbled together PA are gifted away to make space for other stuff.

There's a frame for a Melbourne here too. Just faders, no amps and no PS...I'm not sure who it belongs to...
I thought this club was for musicians. Who let the drummer in here??

Only thing I seem to inherit are crappy, useless old stompboxes, and not the good ones, well except for once. Years ago, I recieved an originall EH Big Muff, plugged a gitter into it and hated it. I gave it to a buddy, then saw one exactly like it on ebay for a shitload of cash a few days later. Oh well, at least he likes it.

I also recieved a free pair of Yorkville YSM-1 monitors, not great, but free.

Unfortunately I haven't received much hardware with a couple exceptions, but I have received a whole bunch of useful stuff that we sometimes forget about.

-Endless amounts of 1/4" and RCA cables
-Endless amounts and varieties of adapters
-Decent shielded audio cable
-Neutrik connectors
-A pair of Snell monitors
-A pair of JBL control 1 (not great but always nice to have another set)
-Paradigm sub rs-15

Stuff on loan:

Millennia HV-3C (solid state pre)
Millennia M-2B (tube pre)
Avenson Omnis
"I'd rather her sound artificial [auto tune] than sound completely drunk." As said by the producer during a long pitch shifting session.
