plug-ins compatibility

Post by Masks! » Sun Oct 29, 2006 8:25 am

I'm also thinking about crossing into Mac land.....

...here's a dumb question...are my plug-ins that I currently use on my PC going to work on a MAC.....and if so is there any trick to installing them properly?

Something I have found is that dashboard is a memory hog, its always on and always eating power! So I have done away with it altogether. Seems simple but I took a while to figure it out.....

Another thing you should do regularly is simply restart. From OS X 10.4 and upward, most of the maintenance scripts (or "cron" jobs) that would run regularly in the middle of the night/weekly/monthly are now a part of "launchd" -- the daemon that runs when you boot.

So there is really no need to keep your machine running overnight/forever anymore.

sorry masks, they won't, though your install cds or whatever may have Mac install versions.

there's an app called Onyx (freeware) that gets you access to more customizing in MacOS 10.4. I used it a lot when I was still using Tiger, but I ditched Tiger because it angered me and went back to 10.3.9. Anyway, with Onyx, I was able to completely eradicate every side app I didn't want- dashboard included- but it does more. Recommended.
