the other night i was cranking bob segar's 'fire down below'...the vocal sound is amazing...so overdriven. i found it quite entertaining. my roommate walked by and gave me the Dubious Eyebrow. hahahaha
I tend to just ignore the cultural baggage and enjoy the music I enjoy!
re: Seger, I much prefer "Turn the Page" and the riff on "Her strut" is killer. But "Fire Down Below" is kewl too.

This doesn't quite count, because I am not actually embarassed about liking it, but Christina Aguilera's first album is totally choice stuff. I mean specifically that song "What a Girl Wants" but there is a lot of really capital sonic material on that whole disc.
Ever since I first heard her in 2001 or so I've been expecting her to outlast Britney Spears, 'artistically' and now it has come to pass. Britney is retired to abstract celebrity status and Christina is still wailing away.

Almost forgot: "We Built This City on Rock/Roll"
Maybe that's just nostalgia at work. I don't know. It just brings me right back to this one time when me and some friends from school actually built an entire city upon rock and roll.

Like someone else said, so many of those songs listed are classics. The only thing wrong with them is that they've been overplayed.
So here we go... For some reason this embarasses the hell out of me...
I recently rekindled my love for John Denver's albums from the early 70's. "Poems, Prayers, and Promises", "Rocky Mountain High", and "Aerie" are all albums I grew up with that I recently rediscovered. The acoustic playing is excellet, the songs are pretty good - he had good taste in covers, and he hadn't gotten into his sappy strings and goofy persona yet.
