Where to get an RNC cheapest?

Post by Derrick » Thu Sep 28, 2006 9:43 am

Where is the best place to get the cheapest price on an RNC compressor? I only have Symetrix and Ashley and feel that I should have something a bit less colored or more transparent sounding for buss, vocals, master mixes, etc.

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-FMR-Audio-RNC-C ... dZViewItem

and their website if you don't like using eBay; www.humbuckermusic.com

Great place, cool stuff, good prices and they are a Tape Op advertiser.

Very cool. I've seen this guys site before but it's good to know that that's about the best price for new.

Hey Drewbass... PM me with asking price on the RMCs. Thanks guys!

I find the price variations to be pretty minimal. Usually free shipping or not is the biggest difference.

Hey, do you guys find the RNC or one of the DBX compressors to be more over all useful? I don't need a bounch of comps.

good question, but i use the two for different things. the rnc i mainly use to crush overheads when i need it, sometimes vocals, sometimes guitars. maybe snare.
it's nice in that it's stereo that's why i use it on overheads. sux for bass.
-so i got-
the dbx- is use the 160a's- thats mainly for bass, bd and somtimes vox on the way out. the -5:1 idea can really f things up when you want.
they were both my first compressors. i got them essentially at the same time. get one of each. they are totally different. then go from there.

i got my rnc from humbucker and was pleased with their service and all. for rnc's, the cheapest price i found though was here:
http://www.jacksmusicfactory.com/defaul ... uctid=5001
it gives a lower price if you add it to your cart. i can relate to $5-6 sometimes making a difference. :)
i wanted something a little less transparent and i settled on a couple of dbx 160x's as i mostly compress in the box, but i found i didn't even need two so i'm selling one in b/s/t fwiw.
