I'm thinking about just using it as a web hosting site for my music, it's win win!

I don't have copies of most of the crappy things I've worked on. Kind of a mistake on my part. I did mix the worst song ever...

The oldest joke in Minneapolis:

"What's the best pickup line at First Avenue?"

"Hey, I like your band."

"You've heard of us?"

It is a really cool and fun idea, but I'd have to agree with Chris. If somebody stumbled upon their own music on there, which is definitely possible, it would most likely be very obvious as to who posted it, causing their recordist to appear very unprofessional!

Quite right. Its very unprofessional. I still would like to find a way to do it though. Especially since in my moment of excitement I registered that domain name.. haha.

I have had a similar idea for a while and maybe I will make a separate thread of this sometime: Let's share our OWN missteps/early recordings from our old high school bands and such. I have some pretty good material from 4track cassettes, well, not good, but amusing versions of early attempts at recording from earlier decades. If we're actually on the recordings we up, then no feelings can be hurt, right?

Or, going way back to about 1981, I have some recordings of piano lessons when I was still in grade school. Those are really pretty stellar recordings and performances though (recorded on Scotch tapes and all)

That's what I was thinking. The only stuff I would have to upload is stuff I played on. Well, almost all...

you could just make it invite only, assigning a username/password.

Invite only is an amazing idea... alright. I'll run with that and report back when I have anything going on.

a friend of mine used to act as an editor at the onanist.
a non-fiction "masturbatory" (since no one's ever really going to read it) outlet.

i would encourage all aspiring engineers to keep a (private, at least until you're sure you don't want to pursue a career in recording) journal of their experiences. hopefully it helps to keep in mind that one day you'll be able to laugh at the shit you may be dealing with right now.

Would/Wouldn't there be copyright issues? I mean, if you've recorded a band, and they post a copyright to the Copyright office, then that should initiate some kind of legal tangle, yes/no? Of course they shouldn't find the site, but just another thing to think about.
I'm all about a little kick and snare
