If You Could Have A Guitar Made To Your Specs

Post by Mark » Sun Nov 05, 2006 1:11 pm

What features would it include?

For my part I'd like one with three SC Pups with a 3 way selector switch (off, on in phase and on out of phase) and a concentric volume and tone knob for each. :D

Something with a goddamn tremolo bar that never goes out of tune! :x

I think you'll find my aims are somewhat more realistic :wink:

I thought about this for a while and what I came up with is...a Strat. :wink:

If I could have a guitar 'custom made' to my specs I would get them to build in "old" and extra "character."

What? They can't do that?

Oh well.

A Telecaster with:
  • * The option of flipping on a humbucker type sound in the bridge.
    * A tremolo that didn't make it look goofy and that when the bar was removed it locked like a fixed bridge..
    * A zero fret.

It would probably be a lot like the main guitar I play now, which is a heavily modified 1985 Japanese Telecaster. Only it wouldn't have the Kahler, it would have some sort of tailpiece bridge. And it would be a purpleheart (or similar) neck with an ebony fretboard, instead of maple & rosewood. And different pickups, but the same weird-ass wiring job (push-pull coil tap switches on volume and tone knobs and a phase inversion miniswitch). The pickups would be a custom design that is highly secret.

If they could make an exact replica of my 1962 jazzmaster that was the same in every way, and succeed, then I would buy 6.
