hamptone + radar II + echolpex on drums = whoa!

Post by Jon Nolan » Thu Nov 09, 2006 10:12 am

CH 1.one AT 4050 OH > Hamptone tube pre > Otari Radar II (panned 10 o'clock)

CH 2. senn e602 kick > Hamptone tube pre > Otari Radar II (panned 10 o'clock) and out to...

tube echoplex 2/3 wet mix on 50/75-ish ms 'echo'> CH3. (panned 3 o'clock)

awesome. awesome. awesome.

i've discovered the sound that will dictate the vibe of my next record. i just listened to the sounds for like three hours last night b/c they sounded so good to me. sometimes i listened with the other instruments in, and sometimes just to the fake stereo image of the drums.

what a kick ass sound.

shaysus, those hamptones rule. as do the radar's converters. i just couldn't understand what a difference they could make until i heard 'em.

psyched. that is all...

jon

ps - i just picked up my pal's re-awesome'd '69 U87. i've got ten days to use this puppy! can't wait to hear this thing for myself. i'm not likely to see much sunlight in the next week or so.

Nice Jon-

Sounds like good times. I'll have get over to check out yer setup sometime. When did you pickup the Radar system?

So are you sending just the kick mic to the echoplex, or just the over head, or both?

hey josh...

yeah, you're welcome to hang at my milltown ghetto anytime! i wanna hear the new one hand' tracks you guys have been laying down too. andy may tells me good things.

i just have a 1/4" line of the OH only> direct out> to the echoplex, and then back into another line in channel on the board. sounds pretty kick ass to me anyway.

hows the shop?

cheers,
J-No

Yeah!
I'd love to hear. I've been on the fence about picking up an Echoplex (or maybe a TTE). Convince me :)

I never pass up an opportunity to agree about the awesomeness of the Hamptone.
