Hey Gang,
I was considering buying this for quieter sources with an SM7 and my old shure ribbon mic. My only real concern is a loss of signal integrity and added noise. Any good or bad experiences to share?

I've used 'em. They're great for mics like an SM58 and are very clean and quiet.

My impression is they run off phantom power, which is actually pretty brilliant. It prevents the dynamics from being damaged by the annoying global phantom power on my Onyx 400f. As a result however, I don't think 48v would do it for three of these in a row. Who knows though...joel hamilton wrote:I have been wondering about those things.. seems like a fun idea.. a pre-preamp...
how many would i have to stack up in series to not use a mic pre at all?

If it doesn't pass phantom, then you coudn't chain them together as the ones on the mic side wouldn't get power. My impression is they run off phantom power, which is actually pretty brilliant.
