Rode NT1 not feeling well

Post by traveen » Tue Nov 28, 2006 9:51 pm

My Rode NT1 seems to have problems handling any high SPL. Really anything more than a quiet singing voice will make it "flutter" for lack of a better word. It almost sounds like it's peaking but not quite so high pitched, more of a low flutter that makes everything mic-ed with it unusable.

Any ideas what would cause this and how to go about fixing it or where I could send it to get it fixed?

I am handy with repairs but have never even opened a condenser mic up to look inside.

Thanks for anyones help..
trav.

I don't know how to fix it, but I had two of these damn things that did the same thing to me!

I just left in them in the mic closet and reused the shockmount and vinyl bag I had for one of them. Works great for my RE-20!

Well, hopefully someone can actually be helpful.

Try contacting Rode. They have been very helpful to me in the past, even out of warranty. I just had to pay shipping one way.

Dude, go to their website, and follow their directions:

Their USA contact is in Santa Monica (look at the bottom of the page).

Well hey..

I took advice from here and sent my NT1 back to Rode..

What a classy company.. they fixed it and sent it back to me at no charge.

I told them I did not buy the mic new,, the guy told me it didn't matter.
It wasn't abused so they fixed... needed a new capsule.

It's policies like that that will make me buy another Rode mic next time I buy one.

Go Rode....

They did the same for me with an NT2 that i had, I bought it new. Rode us a great company.

Unlike Waves, a company that sucks between butt cheeks.
