I'm sure this has been hashed around before, but now that the Toft version is actually a reality, does anybody have experience with the Trident version:

There was lots of swirl about this a year or two ago, but that has seemed to die down.

Their QC and customer service could be better.
May i buy yours from you in about 5 years when you upgrade?
Thanks, i'll start another change jar going...

Funny you should mention that Brandon, we were already talking about that the other day around the studio.
It would have to be either an API or Neve to beat the Toft, but it will be all yours in a few years. And some distrssors about the same time from the looks of it.

I hate to talk shit about a good company like Toft, that is obviously trying to make something that I really needed, but there have been several little problems with my board that a more in-depth QC check would've found.Jon Nolan wrote:please elaborate! especially on the QC bit, if you please.Red Rockets Glare wrote:I've been doing a TON of mixing this week on my Toft, man, these EQ's are fucking unreal. They were nice enough to replace the master output section when the solder came loose, but channel 14 has a low output and some of the knobs don't track just right. We took the board in to have channel 14 looked at and the problem couldn't be replicated. I've tried re-wiring and tested the channel out, but it's still not right. I work around it, but as a member of the Pilot Program (and a past reviewer for Tape Op magazine) I just thought they'd be a little more aggressive about making sure I was 100% happy, even if that meant sending someone out to my studio which is only 10 miles away from their office.
Did I mention that I love and highly reccomend this board? Good.
As far as the EQ's go, they are just so fucking musical! By that I mean I can find the fundamental of a tom toms attack and resonance and pump those frequencies up a little to make them stick out just right in the mix without taking up too much space.
I can make the kick drum sound SO great with these EQ's, it really is the sound I was looking for when I heard those Queen ProTools mixes and you could solo the kick.

noooo man, it's definitely NOT shit talk I'm looking for, and I wouldn't classify this as such. if i'm looking to spend 3/4/5 grand in a couple years, I'd really like to know what kind of quirks are out there in this thing, and what i'm looking at in terms of support from a company. one of the attractive ideas about the ATB is that it's a NEW console - not an old one that needs lots of work in order to get it at a reasonable price, you know?Red Rockets Glare wrote: I hate to talk shit about a good company like Toft...
anyway, it's just biz. and i'm not buying one anytime soon anyway. just trying to keep up to date on it is all. thanks for the follow up!
cheers,
jon
