I believe TASCAM'S US headquarters is somewhere near LA, perhaps El Monte. Don't get your hopes up dealing with them, though, because my experience with them showed that they aren't the sharpest tools in the shed when it comes to repairing their own products.

Cheers,

Looks like you're up for a drive down the 5 freeway to Montebello to Tascam's service headquarters. They do good work. Best of luck. You can see them from the freeway just past the Citadel on the left.

For Tascam repair, try Adrian...

Adrian Pro Audio Service
21431 Sherman Way, Canoga Park, CA, United States
Phone: (818) 347-9271

None better. Not inexpensive, but thorough and your machine will work great for a long time.

I live 10 minutes away from TASCAM in Montebello and drive 45 minutes instead to Adrian. Good guy, very honest, reasonable, upfront and he does great work. He's a lot cheaper than tascam by the way. There was a difference of over $100 from tascam's rate, compared to his when it came to calibratig my machine, also they said they'd take a few weeks to do it he had it done in 4 days.

Is $75 a fair offer to a Fort Lauderdale music store for a used 388 that appears to be clean? They had no tape to run a test.
Party with me, punker.

I'd take a chance on it for $75. If you really want one you won't mind paying for the repairs, if any.

Another thumbs-up for Adrian- he got my Fostex decks running great.
