How 'bout those Roland VS 2480 series?

Post by parlormusic » Thu Jan 04, 2007 8:21 am

The VS 2480DVD has caught my eye. It has most everything I want in a compact recording rig: plenty of channels, automation, editing, keyboard moust & monitor outputs, CD burning, backup capability - it does sooo much. Do any of you have hands-on experience using any of these? And what's your take on the pros & cons of them?

while i can totally understand auralman's reasons to get a siab, i can hardly understand why people get siabs to export files to a computer or whatever..

what's the point of having a siab if you're not gonna use what's inside!?

before looking at any roland, idd say take a look at the Korg D16XD and D32XD lines...they go pretty cheap these days for what they are (analog compression, automated faders on the 32xd, etc)..

also their new D3200 is surelly something as well.

i have many fond memories of my D1200 and D1600. excelent machines, from tracking to cd editing (use the friggin thing's capabilities if you get something like this!!). the only downside: preamps. a simple dmp3 is a huge improvement.

if you're only going for a siab to track and then dump stuff into a computer, just get a better and more stable computer.
