I mis-read this as a confession that you have sold broken BS.

Oh, no wink needed. It was as an erotic moment as it sounds. For me anyways, the board might not have been thinking the same thing...

Yeah, Sonic Circus people are great. I bought my api's from them and they even overnighted the gear, their cost, since it was needed on a session in three days.

Congrats on the console purchase. Sounds like an awesome desk.

Some aspects to consider are the fact that those consoles are temperamental creatures that are best left powered on 24/7 for stability. That means heat, so be sure your HVAC system can draw off some of that temperature increase. NYC electrical power being what it is, you might also want to invest in some sort of balanced/regulated AC transformer. Voltage instability could create some havoc. And be prepared for an increase in your contributions to Con Edison.

That said, sounds like a good investment. Good luck.

conagrats Joel. sounds very exciting.

im totally bummed.

I got the worst service ever from Sonic Circus. Everyone raves about them, but I got really screwed. I sent a serious complaint to them and never even got a response.

I 'm glad others are having good experiences though.

Best of luck with it!

I bought a v72 telefunken preamp from them about 4 years ago and it was a really good experience.

You really hit the nail on the head with the whole MOD $$ concept.
I think you know that I'm a big fan of modifying everything and having custom stuff built. I often wonder about resale value and marquee value on my gear list. No one knows Matrix Audio Systems yet. I have the first prototype of their
discrete transformer balanced preamps. This has become my #1 go to preamp
[amazing and exciting sounding as well] but people searching on a list for name gear will never know. My partner and I at Zeroville have had many converstaions about purchasing name brand gear for the attraction value[as well as the functionality] And yes I've been burned too many times on the internet with broken non-working gear [We're still trying to get the Gates SA-39
I bought over a year ago ,working]. Definately selling off the lesser gear and saving my $$ for a sony tube mic or a U47fet because they're great tools and it also looks great on the list!
rock on!

Funny, I've encountered some pretty shady stuff with Dave, even when I was at his new place...

I've also had several other people tell me they got some real lemons from him...

Even Dave himself has confessed to have a "feeling" that a console was going to work...

That inspires confidence.

Did you tour the wood shop? That seems like a better place for him to be.

congrats on from my behalf as well joel.
it's cool that you had a good experience with them. i started doing business with them a while ago, small purchases here and there. i got to know everyone, jeanette 'n all. when i made my "system" purchase they completely dicked me over. i wont get into details but i was not a happy camper.

i guess some people have good experiences and some bad. i definitely fall on the ladder.

working on a nice console must be awesome :D

enjoy!

I.
