NAMM predictions anyone? (Or good old inside information?)

Post by ;ivlunsdystf » Sun Jan 07, 2007 1:14 pm

I predict, weakly, an all-in-one box that does everything for under $999. Whatever that means. Anybody out there have any USEFUL forecasts?

idd buy that...

even better though, idd buy an all analog mixer with great eq, pan and faders, no preamps, inserts on all channels and buss, 4 aux sends/ret, no 1 million crappy fx, a 120 GB hardisk built in, all balanced and discrete throughout and a fantastic and uncrashable software.

idd bet this would cost less than a VS2480.

Mic preamps will continue to be hyped.

There will be yet more cheap mics, some of which might be pretty decent. The rest will turn out to be yet another "manufacturer" selling the same mics that Behringer, MXL, Nady, etc. sell, just with a new badge from the same Chinese factory.

www.rhodespiano.com has set up a site last week but there is nothing on it.... yet.

I'm forecasting that a re-issue Fender Rhodes of some sort will be unveiled at NAMM.

holy shit after I posted that I went there and the site is up and running now and, sure enough, the "rhodes mark VII" will be unveiled at NAMM. Going to read more now...

Yes, you do. :D

It's Broccoli Romanesqe - sometimes called Cauliflower Romanesque. It's absolutely beautiful and tasty too. I almost didn't cook it, it's so much fun to just look at.

Now back to our regularly scheduled thread already in progress...

I'm adding a spiral garden bed to my yard and I'm going to plant them in clusters of 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13 and 21.

I bet someone will make a summing box, that sits on the floor, with legs.... and has EQ, and a mic pre..... and faders!!! It will be called: a console.
Many other summing box companies will have to do at least 23 minutes of looking at recordingconsoles.net before they catch up to this new genius device....

Also: a drum mic XLR "powerplug" that actually has drumagog in it, just to fool the band.....

That's funny, I was just thinking the other day that somebody ought to start making Clavinets again. They don't seem technically very difficult to build, and surely somebody would want to buy one. The Rhodes thing looks pretty nifty. If nothing else, it will make the original Rhodes keyboards a bit more attainable ... maybe ...
