Acoustic repair in New England?

Post by dirty » Sat Jan 27, 2007 10:05 am

this might not be the right place for this, but does anyone know a good acoustic guitar repair place in Maine (or near Maine? I'll drive to Mass if I have to.)

My Sigma acoustic (which I love) has what I think is a loose brace in the back that squeaks and buzzes. (It almost sounds like a tiny fuzz pedal inside the guitar. But that's not as cool as I made it sound.)

I want it fixed up right. I love this thing.

there used to be a bad ass luthier near camden - though of course i can't remember the name of the joint, but i stopped in there a few times on my way to fame and fortune playing the old sea dog brew' co.

it was on route 1 somewhere. wouldn't be too far north from rockland if it's still there. maybe it was south? i'm sorry, i'll ask my old bandmates.

good luck,
jon

ps - these guys are the shite too, fyi. though it's a few hours south for ya:

The Music Emporium in Lexington, MA is also good. I had them do some work on my Martin last year.

Glen Nelson at Mockingbird Music in Berlin MA is one of the only people around here that I would trust to do any major surgery on an acoustic guitar.

Thanks guys!

I knew about Woodsound, but a friend of mine had a pretty bad experience there, and I'd rather try somewhere else. Thanks for all the great info.

You should be able to find a closer solution, but here's a guy who I've personally used. Fixed a broken neck for me http://www.diburro.com/ He's in Exeter, NH.

Buckdancer's Choice in Portland, Maine could likely help you as well. http://www.buckdancers.com/repairs.php Check out the repair challenge slide show here!!!
