Prince was great? Yikes, our opinions differ...

I missed Billy Joel. Appears that it was a good thing I did. My friend made a joke 15 minutes into the game that he was probably out crashing his car somewhere

Prince can sing for sure.
It's nice to hear a talented guy sing on live TV with the vocal WAY up in the mix.
His guitar playing? well.... he's a great singer!

I was in the other room during Billy Joel, but I swear I heard a weird synth singing.

*upchuckles*

that was so sad.

he used to be a good singer...back in the 70s.

sounded like he was strangling on a kazoo at one point.

Autotune and live performance really don't go well together.

I agree about prince. Guy can sing, he's a great guitar player, but it all just wasn't happening tonight. Hard to pinpoint exactly. Was it just me or was the band not too tight? Also, it's either a sad day or a testament to progress in America that prince can sing at the superbowl without public outcry. Given that there was no "When Doves Cry" or "Gett off", I'm inclined to believe the former.

The autotune was ugly though, damn.

man, i'd have rather heard him sing a bit sour than autotuned to buggery.

I'd rather hear an off performance than that shit. I just watched some of the Prince stuff and thought it was good. I really don't think about prince much but when I see live things from him I'm always impressed. I do agree about the band seeming to be a little off but man, the attitude! To play the superbowl halftime show and rip out some guitar freak out like that... amazing.

Man... I thought Prince kicked ass... And I'm not really a big fan... I thought he scorched on guitar and wailed vocally and, well, kicked ass... The only thing I didn't dig were his fashion choices...
