I made one it works great for vocals and voiceover, I need to get crafty and find a way to mount it to a mic stand though.

I have some ideas.

Is that a small picnic cooler?

I suppose it could double as a picnic cooler, or keep your 12 pack cold while not in use, but it's actually a homebox from the container store. Lined with some 2" auralex pyramid foam or the equivalent. The box itself is completely collapsible. I guess the guy who came up with it is a traveling voiceover artist.

I imagine a 3 cube cardboard box would work too.

Here's a link to buy one.

The url to the article I put in the original post has some good information in it too.

We have mic collections- it's great we can finally start an acoustic baffle collection!
I have both a modtrap and a SE reflexion so far, and actually I'm liking the SE Reflexion in the front (standard) and the modtrap behind... a great vocal booth.
I think the RealTraps would be awesome as well if you're not in a small room (like I am).... however, the size would be an advantage for baffle coverage. I bet it would sound great as a baffle for a guitar amp.
Interestingly enough, I suggested the concept of a larger Reflexion Filter for use behind the singer/performer to sE soon after they came out with the RF. As I shared w/Drumsound yesterday in his very nice recording facility, sE is supposed to come out with a Reflexion Filter primarily for use by horns sometime this spring. My curiosity is peaked to see just how large it might be.

You could always place glow in the dark star stickers all over them and turn out the lights. Then one would have the feeling of singing in space.

Jeff
you could feed them a bunch of LSD to intensify the lunar experience.

I listened to the demos at realtraps as well...I didn't care much for the sound of it. The SE still had a tiny bit of room tone, but the realtraps killed it and seemed to gain proximity effect or something. It made doug sound like he had a nasty cold, but that could be the shitty ass tlm103 he was talking into. I don't know...I didn't really like it much though. Seemed vaccum-ish to me. Also, I agree that I would not want to sing into that thing or anything really. I find that singing in a bigger room with absorbing stuff on the wall behind the singer works nicer. Nothing against realtraps or Ethan at all. I love the company and the people running it, but I just don't dig that particular thing. I just feel more comfy making the room sound good than making a 3 foot square sound good (Dead, actually...not necessarily good).

Just my two cents.

By the way, LSD and singing....GNARLY

I was thinking of getting some of these 12" x 12" samples, hinge them together, and make my own. Are these too small to do anything? How about to actually use in the corners of a small room or around monitors? Seems dirt cheap.
