like most folks studios, mine has all types of cables and cords on the floor. now, what's the real deal with people stepping on 'em and the possibility for damage?

don't step on them if you can possibly avoid it.
at the very least the shield will get torn and frayed over time, even on the toughest cables.

I thought my mic was broken once but it was a tear in the shield from it being on the floor and trampled on making phantom intermittent..
