Electro Harmonix HOG

Anyone use this thing? Easy to manipulate? Easy to dial in? Any glitches/tracking issues? Try it with bass, guitar, or what?

It's on my watch list of gear purchases.

I've sat down with it a few times at the local store. Sounds great, sliders seem to work without glitches, easy to get cool sounds (my favorite- it makes a Strat sound like a pipe organ with all of the harmonic intervals going on).

I would think a foot controller would be almost mandatory, and the only thing that's keeping me back from buying the thing (besides the price- it's up there over $400) is that I wish there were ways of manipulating the sliders with foot controls. But that's me.

+1 on its greatness. You can make some VERY cool sounds with it, almost orchestral. Definitely not your typical guitar effect.

I love my Pog. Compare the features of the two and then decide if the price difference is justified. The Pog tracks amazingly well. It tracks entire chords.

I'd imagine the tracking mechanism/circuit is the same although I don't know that for a fact.

my guitarist just bought one along with an expression pedal. it's pretty amazing, just took a little time to get the hang of it. its unlike anything any of us had used before... we've barely scratched the surface of what it can do...

and of course, we now have two songs on this tour that appear to have an unseen organ droning a lot....

Can the POG do the chord-hold thing the HOG can do?

Just got me a HOG, after loving my POG for a couple years....... the HOG is equally cool, and different. The POG does a lot of things well, but the HOG is really a FUCKO machine..... just fuck things up with it. The chord hold thing is interesting, and the filters are great.

Haven't used it a ton yet, but starting to get some great things out of it, especially on keyboards like a rhodes, wurly, moog, etc..... totally worth it, even at retail.

Really digital sounding, like a digitech Whammy pedal or a Boss pitch shifter.

But I still want one...
