Hello...I am assembling a small XLR patchbay, and I wanted to create a mult. I have read that there is a method of wiring the input to outputs, using resistors, which benefits impedance and possible use of the mult for summing. Is this true? If so, any idea what values the resistors would need to be? This mult will be one input to three outputs.

A mult ties XLR pin 1 to 1, 2 to 2, 3 to 3.
Same with a TRS to TRS ..tip to tip to tip, etc.

I was thinking of soldering a 4 TRS daisy-chain to put in my patch bay to create a mult. If I have all three mult-ed outputs going to a source will there be a level dip at any or all of the sources?

can someone explain to me why you do not need a mic splitter transformer within a typical trs/tt patchbay mult?

Need and want are two different things. Typically, a line-level output will have a low enough output impedance to where you can get away with splitting it a few times passively without too much noticeable quality loss. There can still be issues if the Zs of the inputs are not closely matched.

Ah. So you're saying "mult the insert" rather than "mult the mic"?
