Thanks to everyone for their input. The session went really smoothly and was a lot of fun. It was a mellow three days, we knocked out ten songs, the client was happy, the house engineer said he might be bringing me in to help him on future projects, and I learned a lot.
Now that I'm preparing for an in the box mix today, I'm pretty bummed there won't be a mixing board in front of me. Of course it might also be that it won't specifically be that nice, big Trident, the LA-2, 1176's, TubeTech, Summit, and Allen Smart compressors, or the Neve eq's that'll also be missing.
