??? Using Digi002+Mbox at the same time (10inputs) ???

Post by burn » Fri Mar 30, 2007 9:20 am

I'm wondering if it is possible to run the digi002 and Mbox1 at the same time so I could record 10 tracks at the same time?

Nope, won't work.
You could buy a Presonus Digimax FS for $599 and run its 8 pre's into the ADAT light pipe in on your 002, giving you 16 in at once with 12 mic pre's.
OR, get an old chaep ADAT machine and use its inputs the same way (not as preamps of course).

Cheers

You cant use both at the same time on the same computer...However you already have the ability w/ the 001 to do 10 inputs at once...You can actually go all the way up to 18 tracks at once...

Just get an 8 channel a/d converter and you can use the adat lightpipe...However if you need 10 tracks right now then use the 8 ins on your 001 and then use the spdif inputs for tracks 9/10....

Peace

you should look into those presonus digimax's like the posted above stated...That would give you 16 tracks out of the box for you...

Peace

Thanks a lot for the answer. Yes I know I can use an old cheap ADAT, but I suppose those machines are only 16bits 44.1 , am I wrong? Right now I don't have the dough for buying a presonus (just bought a Digi002)

For cheaper I can get a Behringer ADA8000 Ultragain (they seems to have adat out)... but are the Behringer AD/DA converters totally crap?

For the price your paying for one of these what can you expect? But on the other hand it works well with a 002 and will multiply your ins and outs nicely to 18.

What is this case like? I've been thinking about getting one.

The ADA8000 is a surprisingly decent piece of kit for the money. Definitely a good way to expand the I/O of your 002 without a big cash outlay. As an alternative, you might be able to find a cheap Alesis AI-3 and send it in to Black Lion for an overhaul.

I'd save up for a nicer 8 ch ADAT out box if you can. Better to spend your money once than to buy something cheap and then later go "I need a better one."
good luck!!

I got my Tango 24 for $365, and it's great. 8 ins and outs. Cheap, and you won't be bummed about the quality. I love mine.
