Lightpipe in to Metric Halo 2882

Post by dougo » Sat Mar 31, 2007 3:15 pm

So here is the deal. I enjoy the stock pres on my 2882 but since I can get 8 more in on lightpipe I am wondering what what be the best gear to get pres(assorted flavors) into the lightpipe input without degrading the sound.

Thanks in advance,
Doug

how many additional do you need at once? what's your budget?

most of the lightpipe pres I see around are 8 of the exact same pre (no assorted flavors). For a pair of pres with a>d, they generally usually speedif. I wish some one would make a set of 8 with two super sweeties and 6 plenty nice enoughies in the 1k-1.5k range. Or 4 pairs of different but nice enough pres in the same box. I reckon that starts to get expensive.

Will,

Actually I am looking for just a lightpipe A/D. This way I can use perhaps a couple of hamptones and maybe two more different pres to give me some flavor. Do they make sure a piece of gear. Just trying to get the most use out of my (1) 2882 unit.

Will,

Checked out the Alesis, any opinion on which units are the most transparent?
