Along with the Red and the Pearlman I'm very interested to hear the Chameleon TS2. I met the designer at TapeOpCon last year and he's super cool and Ii think a pretty smart and devoted guy. The PSU has a "vatiable heater" for the tube so you can drive it differently as needed. I theink the parrtern is continuously variable and it's only $750.

I've got one coming in for review and I'm psyched.

are the red capsules the same as the blue capsules (just w/ an "R" instead of "B" in front of the number)?

Cool - I'm officially inviting myself over, then.

I'll just chime in with the other guys who mentioned using the mics you have. I'm not at all certain of your overall set up (Project studio? Home recording for yourself?), but if I had your mics (which I'm sort of close to) I'd be looking at other things. CD production cost, mastering for two projects, whatever. You've got solid stuff, but is there a particular something you think you're missing sonically?

Yes the capsules are interchangable - esp since I ordered a "Red" cap and they sent me a "BLUE" of the same type. I can't say eough about the versatility of this system... Just picked up a Neumann M8 on e-Bay for $350 and it sounds excellent on the Type B body.

red will also make any of their capsules compatible with a few older akg small diaphragm condensers. we have a b7 that sits nicely on an akg 451. if you grab a 451 (not current models) for $250 and the cap of your choice for around $700, you're getting two useful mics for $1000.
