My B3 motor died. advice.

Post by Slider » Wed Apr 25, 2007 7:01 pm

My B3 is dead.
Motor made a weird sound then died last week.
Doesn't make a peep when you flip the 1st switch.
Ii's at this point that I regret not putting those oil drops in once in a while. lol
Anyway, How hard are these to repair or replace?
Is it worth repairing, or can you just chuck a new motor in there?

Contact Goff Professional... http://www.goffprof.com/
They have an online store, too. I got a replaceement Leslie rotor bearing from them. Very nice to deal with.
he took a duck in the face at two and hundred fifty knots.

I gave up on Goff after contacting them numerous times and not hearing from them until a week or more later.

Rick Prevallet is great and runs a shop called Tonewheel General Hospital. (www.tonewheelgeneral.com).

You only have to oil the damn things once a year, my man! :D You should be able to put a new motor in... if there is no sound at all when you flip the switch, then it is the start motor, not the run motor.

Just for shits and giggles... you're sure it's not the START switch, right? Those things fail every now and again.

Worth repairing? Have you seen the price of B3 organs lately? If it is indeed the motor, they are easy to get, and installing them isnt too much of a bitch. If you intend to do the repair yourself, buy the repair manual, that includes the wiring diagrams and schematics. I have used both Goff (I dont think they ever call back unless you are a rockstar)and Tonewheel General.Rick might not pick up the phone on your first call, but he is good about getting back in touch. Hes really knowlegeable and helpful.........
