drum replacement questions

Post by cyantologist » Wed May 02, 2007 8:15 am

I recently lost a snare track to a project i was working on due to my external hd starting to die.

The tom tracks have enough snare bleed that I can gate them and use that to trigger a drum replacement plugin or something along those lines.

I guess i need to know how to go about this. Any decent free plugins? And is there a way that I could use one to render a wav file so that I can take out the few tom hits that will trigger the snare in error?

I am using cubase sx3. Any help would be appreciated.

Mike

You just need to copy the tom track that has the most snare bleed to a different track, then manually edit out the toms. It shouldn't take that long.

I don't know of any free replacement programs, Drumagog and aptrigga are the popular choices.

you could also (if cubase can do this) convert the audio to midi, then trigger a drum from one of the soft sytnhs

You could also try just pasting snare hits on an empty track where the snares are in the tom track. That's how I did it back in day, Tedious, but free.

I see this one is posted above also. I don't have a VST wrapper so could not try it either. I already spent my $$ on Drumagog anyway so don't really care...

here's some free samples too - might work depending on what sound you were going for.
