I got a pair of Symetrix SX201s. Anyone have those? They only have 1/4" inputs. . .and 20db of gain. . .figure they're not so useful on their own (anyone care to debunk that assumtion?), but could possibly be useful as EQ or another 20db of gain after my 202s for ribbons? Anyone use these? Opinions?

Slowly buying parts to rack some PM1000 strips (got 6 strips w/ EQ now and a pair of talkback cards on ther way). . .

Also got a long overdue spool of mogami mic cable and some Neutrik XLRs. . .

Well, I started a thread on this a few weeks ago, but I bought myself a J. Mascis signature Jazzmaster. Just got Lollar PUP's and a TonePro tune o' matic bridge put on it saturday. It was a great guitar before- now it's my dream guitar. I'm psyched!

I got me a stereo mic clip from Guitar WalMart. Pretty exciting, huh?

A month ago: UREI LA-22 compressor, seriously underrated and HARD to find under $1000. I snatched this one on the 'bay for the BIN price of $485, VERY lucky find.

Two weeks ago: Alesis HD24. Great box.

Next purchase: a gross of TRS 1/4" plugs from Redco so I can make snakes for the HD24.

I finally got around to switching my recording setup over to an HD24XR. It's a great machine, and the converter quality really exceeded my expectations.

Oh yeah...found a good deal on a Yamaha E1010 (though it did have to go in the shop). Now I've got two of these - for glorious bucket brigade stereo delay.

They're really weird and variable. Totally fun but they take some time to get used to dialing in.

From my original Harmony Central review, back in 1997(!):
This pedal is not for the faint of heart. I've told my friends that this is My Bloody Valentine in a box (although you can substitute Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo, Mission of Burma....) This thing is out of hand. Its basic setting (drive only) sounds like a very gutsy and creamy fuzz. Turn the stability all the way off, and the signal (if left to ring) will break up and feed back in 10 seconds. Compression really pinches the fuzz sound- must be heard to believe. Gate is there if you don't want all the craziness.
I've been looking for a pedal that can get feedback textures without cranking a 4x12 setup (I do direct recording via SansAmp), and this is it.
Don't get it if you want digital silence or sheen.

My favorite experience with a zvex fuzz factory was watching a young bass player being completely confounded by how to handle all that noise coming from his instrument. Chaos. Love it.

it's also fun to get the fuzz factory to self-oscillate and then play tunes on it (or not) by tweaking the volume knob on your guitar to vary the pitch.
