Thanks! I'm kind of wetting myself, really. The tubes are all working, but I do want to grab a full set while they are still available. Hammond oil is on my list! Looks like from the maintenance sheet it was oiled annually for the first 40 years, but I'm sure it needs a drink.Burnt Ernie wrote:Nice score on the M2!! Oil them wells and felts, and then let it run for a couple days straight. Don't retube anything that's not squealing quite yet. Hadda M3 for a while, and the thing just needed to spin for a couple hours before it "setled in" I think the mechanical tone generation depends a lot on motors and a stable power supply. Again, really nice score!!!
I used to have a 5 string version with active EMGs and the 18v mod, fantastic sounding and playing bass for the money.vvv wrote:This week I finally rec'd my Hohner Steinberger lic'd headless bass - very cool and easier to play than the guitar version. Took a cupplaw weeks to get it, but at $310 shipped I'm ver' happy.
Then out the blue, knowing I was looking for a Bigsby, a buddy found a Epi Wildkat on the local Craigslist at US$250 - sweet.
(Both instruments can be seen and heard as linked in my blog, below.)

2002 Epiphone Dot in Vintage Sunburst for a sweet deal from a buddy here on the TOMB.
Also, I am patiently waiting for my Magnasync Moviola URS to get back from getting modified for guitar. I had a chance to play through it last weekend before it's totally finished and it sounded pretty ridiculous.

This is just little, but it's better than i thought it would be.
I've never had a really nice headphone amp, the headphone amps on my echo audiofire were pretty crappy. The amps on my new UFX are magnitudes better. Kinda on a whim, i bought a chinese 12au7 headphone amp on ebay for $60 shipped. It sounds really good so far, as in really good. I'm hearing stuff in my mixes that i haven't heard before. This may spur me to save for something really fancy like a grace, but for the time being, i'm impressed. I did swap the tube for a n.o.s. ge but that's all.

Nice...i have a pair of 4038's also & they pretty much stay on drum overheads in mono or stereo.Ryan Silva wrote:Pair of Coles 4038
+ template adapter.
A dream realized.
Gives the drums a nice meaty thud & the cymbals sound great.
Great mics !
