So far it sounds quite good. so far. I did my first client session with it tonight. Basics from the RADAR and guitar and vocal overdubs in PT with the Orion.

A QuantAsylum QA400 audio analyzer. I'm working on a front-end to make it useful for measuring pro-audio equipment; seems to work well, but it's unbalanced and only accepts low signal levels.

I recently purchased 16 channels of Spectra Sonics from a 1020 Console circa 1968. This is possibly from The Record Plant console. I plan on building a custom 8 Bus console using these channels as the main inputs along with 16 more Line inputs with no EQ for a total of 32X8X2 Custom Console.

Random Craigslist finds of this weekend...

Yamaha CP20 $50
Roland JX3P w/programmer and hard case $200
Ensoniq ASR10 with hard drive and discs and hard case $200

Turned down a Moog Polymoog for $350 with custom road case because it looked like hell and when we powered it on smoke started coming out...

Drawmer DS201 Gate

I've been meaning to get one of these to screw around with keying the gate off of different elements, ducking things, etc. Although they're around $800 new, the plugin craze has gutted the second-hand hardware market. I got it for $190 with shipping.

Darn that was an excellent find. I love mine, but don't have the programmer unit.
Howling at the neighbors. Hoping they have more mic cables.

Symetrix 501

Grabbed one from eBay. Played with it for just a few minutes. Ran some bass and acoustic guit through there. The comp characteristics are usable. Better on bass than acoustic fer sure.

I'm really just learning to incorporate outboard gear into DAW mixing, but it seems like the level coming out of the 501 is really low .....

Indeed. Surprised at how similar this sounds to my Juno 106. I also like the sequencer.

I recently picked up a Lovepedal High Power Tweed Twin overdrive pedal. I really love this pedal in the wide open position. I'm using it first in a chain of pedals for my guitar and lap steel sounds (depending on the band).

High Power Twin ---> JHS Superbolt ---> custom boost pedal (really, any clean/slightly dirty boost pedal will work for leads) ---> tube amp (or Sansamp Para Driver for tracking). Loving this combination right now.
