software for me lately - plug ins. the new SlyFi plugs (same guy making UBK fatso, clariphonic, KUSH audio). I really like them!

also trying out the slate subscription thing - so far the VBC seems pretty cool but underwhelmed by the VTM. figured its a cheap way to try em all out and the RELAB lexicon 460L clone thing.

Ludwig blackrolite, to match the finish an my gretsch tubs. It came with an Evans HD dry head, which I've never tried. Don't know if it's the head or the drum yet, but it is THAT SOUND I wanted ten years ago. Fat and dry at the same time.
Also an altec 1612a. Nice to see some more green in the rack. Liking it as a room mic pre, though a bit noisy - is it just me or were they kind of retarded when it came to power supplies?

I've been on a guitar spree lately. Bought a Taylor Mini GS which is amazing, Holey Board pedal board, a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power Plus to power the board, an EHX 22500 looper and a Joyo American Sound. On top of that my wife bought me a Fuzz Factory for my birthday.

A selection of Scandinavian-looking lamps for the studio..... ambience is oh so important!

Cuppla gutar straps for under US$5 each offa the Ebog - one is good, the other is shite but will be OK in the gig bag azza spare.

A Toadworks Meat pedal, because I got it cheap and for giggles wanted to compare it to the Meat, Jr. They sound about identical, with the original Meat having a bit more tweakability but at 2x the size. By far my fave clean boost pedals, tho', and I do have a few. Gotta say, I have the Mr. Squishy compressor and I really love that, too - cool pedal company I found recently by accident.

recently bought new headphones for the studio.

Tried a lot of them and ended up get the AT ATH-M40x headphones.
Boy oh boy they sound great. Were value priced at $100 and they come
with 2 cables, a straight one and a coiled one. The cable also
detaches from the phones. This is great 'cause that's usually where the cable ends up going bad.

I also have the fancier AT50 headphones but the 40's sound great, fit very well and look to be really sturdy.

Two thumbs up!

Seriously? Did you catch wind of a good deal on one? Make some sound demos please?

Damn, was hoping for feedback from someone truly insane enough to buy them.

No disrespect to Metasonix, but I've always gotten the impression that they build really cool but incredibly specific stuff for folks like Trent Reznor, as opposed to making something with at least a couple cool tricks that can make someone justify the beans for it...

"Geiger Counter." It actually looks like a pretty cool, useful piece of gear, but the name is funny to me. It reminds me of a phrase my friend Joel had for the ubiquitous reverb-soaked, tinny distortion sound so beloved by neophyte guitarists that have just discovered effects: "Ah! The sound of a radio-active elephant, running through a field of tin-foil." Poetry!

Just got an ART Digital MPA used off GC for 150.00 bucks. I know it's pretty low end, but that's how I roll. I used it for the first time tonight on drum overheads and was really happy. It seemed to make my drummers cheap cymbals a little bit smoother sounding.
