Yeah those look cool, if I spent more time recording others these days and less time cramped up in my place composing I'd probably grab a set.

So far they are pretty cool. I used the stereo mic for room on an a capella group last week, and then on a fold session Monday. The cardioid sounded pretty thick on a Guld Acoustic on Monday's session. I've been too busy for drum experiments.

When you buy 5 mics, you get a discount and a nice little wood box. Each of the individual cylinder cases have serial numbers. They are hand made by a guy in MA.

Interesting. I've been making one-string guitar pickups in bullet shells. The 40 caliber pickup.

I've somewhat reluctantly decide to build out a spare bedroom into a mixing area so I can spend more time at home, so I sold off my API 3124+ and bought a bunch of GIK treatment (thanks Glenn!) and a pair of Presonus Sceptre S6 monitors (thanks Pro Audio Star for the buy one, get one price)
Still waiting for a Luna reunion

Those look pretty cool, did you happen to get the blue high-SPL one?
And how wide is the image on the stereo mic?

Lastly, what do you mean by a fold session? Fold as in foldback? or did you mean folk?

I didn't get the high SPL. I got the Red, Green and Black models. The stereo isn't super wide.

Yes, it was a folk session.

I'm glad I happened across your post; I am now considering getting a couple of these, and for once the thought of "hmmm why are these so cheap, that's suspicious" never entered my head. They're hand-made from a few simple parts, don't have any spec sheets or shockmounts or anything, just kinda do what they're supposed to do.

And they also look cool. I think these could influence musicians' performances in interesting ways...

One more question, maybe -

Does putting a pad on the other models pretty much defeat the purpose of the high-SPL model, or does it handle high SPLs better because of the built-in pad?

I have no idea about the pad. I didn't intend to use them on high SPL sources, well not close up anyway. I'm a dynamic mic guy for up close things most of the time.

Hey, cool.

This is my site:
http://www.ubertar.com/hexaphonic/index.html

Here's where there's more info about the one-string pickups, but I haven't finished the page yet, so I haven't connected the rest of my site to it:
http://www.ubertar.com/hexaphonic/one_a ... ckups.html

As you can see, I have even smaller ones now, the HC-series. More new stuff will be coming soon, and I'll be phasing out some of the old. My email is on the site; if you have any questions, feel free.

Korg M1 rack synth. Pulled from the trash after a friend saw it on his morning run. Works just fine but needs a new battery.
