I found a Radio Shack PZM mic and a Shure lavalier mic in the trash a few weeks back.

A Lexicon MPX100 and a pair of JBL Control 1's.

But the tape deck is pure audio porn my man.

The last thing I did was sell two stereo mic pres and buy a Focusrite 428 4 channel pre. So now I have 8 channels of pretty good pre's in a 4-space rack that's heavy as shit but manageable.

Oh, and I picked up a "Westbury" gibson-esque japanes guitar thats a lot of fun.

I was at a local studio recently that has OK equipment and a big, nicely put together room. Playing back their tracks that were recorded with mics that are not as good as mine over monitors that are cheaper than mine, their tracks sounded great. Much more clear/focused than stuff I do.

Which tells me more gear probably won't help.

UPS says that my two Fathead II's and my two GXL3000's are here in town and "Out for Delivery" today. So sometime today I'll be getting 4 brand new mics. Prior to that I got an Audix D-6. It totally "kicks" ass. Thanks to Alan from Soullive for the good deal and to TapeOp for the TOMB.

FedEx says that my OktavaMod MK319 that I bought used via Buy/Sell/Trade is scheduled for delivery today. I am really excited about this mic. It has the Floating Dome and Premium Electronics mod.

I just bought a Symetrix SX-202 dual mic preamp for $118 (6 outputs, rev C?). I love it, and it's stock in perfect working condition. Not sure if I am going to mod it or not, since I am not a DIY guy. Yet. At first glance witha 414B/ULS at the 12th fret on my Taylor acoustic I like it more than the stock Sytek preamps in the MPX4Aii. I am shocked about this.

I bought a used M-Audio Oxygen8 w/ gig bag for $45 so I can get my Soft Synth thing on on the road.

I also picked up an Apple Mighty Mouse for my G5 and discovered that the track ball makes automating single faders in Digital Performer a piece of cake. Great feel and so much better than click and drag.

I loaded both my G5 and my Powerbook with Dual-layer DVD burners three weeks back, and replaced the stock 80GB system drive in the G5 with a 320GB Western Digital Caviar Drive for $99 last week. 820GB of internal drive space, 280GB external, and 200GB extra floating around now (I will access with this soon: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20 ... U2NVSPATA/) . I am in backup heaven.

So far this year, I have scored a VMP-2 dual channel tube pre, a VC-L/2 dual channel comp/limiter, built a custom rack for all of my tube gear and scored a AKG-414ULS. I have upgraded the hard drive in my Masterlink. The HDR, had a BIOS chip update, which allows for bigger hard drives. I also scored an old MCI 5050mkIII 1/4 inch deck that needs some serious work on the mechanicals. I am not even sure it is worth it in todys digital realm.

Here is a pic of the rack, tube pre and comp:

RCA OP-5 tube remote preamp from the late 1930's. Total art deco porn. Sorry, no pics yet.

i just got a transient designer 4
4 api 525s are due friday.
the spl td4 does everything they say it does. it's a crazy piece. punch like i've never heard from the attack and the sustain really does have the effect of moving the mic closer or further away. i'm a little freaked out.
