The Echo Audiofire 4 I bought off ebay came in last night. I actually wonder if the seller ever used it, looks brand new and some of the accessories are still in plastic wrapping. It took me a few hours to figure out something was wrong with the firewire card in my PC, since I never use it, but I got it sorted out and now I can start doing some fx pedal demos this weekend. My first venture into computer based recording actually, so I'm sure I'll run over all sorts of speed bumps playing with this thing.

I just got a 20 gig hard drive out of a trash pile that I put in a 1996 PC that is running the uptown automation software for my uptown System 990 moving faders in my console.

It feels like christmas.

Meeting this guy at the Bart station tonight to make a Craigslist transaction.

Should I take the pedal throw him under a moving train and disappear in the shadows?

Muuhaaaa!!!

The Tapeop message bord would like to say that we dont not condone that sort of thebehaviours.

As a resident seminary graduate here on the TOMB, I feel compelled to state (just for the record) that this sort of thing could be considered morally questionable.

As the only person on this board who made 'Gentleman' part of his name, I would certainly never do such a thing. I might put my coat across a puddle for a lady to get across, or perhaps hold a door for a mother and her children, but pushing people under trains would not be something I would do.

Back in my 'zine days, I got to interview a certain Icelandic band... they made a point of saying that Icelandic people think Bjork's a little weird too.

Spent today and yesterday building a new rack. I built one before but it was smaller and not angled, so I had to have it on top of other junk to avoid constantly leaning over. Plus this one's bigger, so now I can say "I need to get this rack filled up" (which is inevitably followed by "I need to build another rack!").

Thanks! Yeah it's my baby. I traded a Crate V50 Palomino for it because it was too much power for just recording. Still looking for a V32 head, but that Ampeg does sexy things other amps don't do. The vibrato has some issues, but the reverb's incredible.

This thing is fricken sweet, I have wanted some kind of analog filter for days, and now I think I just started a personal obsession with synth filters. I tweaked on this thing until 3am just trying everything I could think of.

How much for a Rack Voyager again?...

The truth of a proposition has nothing to do with its credibility. And vice versa.

WEM Copicat Tape delay!
I actually bought this about 2 years ago and it's been on the work bench waiting for me ever since. The motor just didn't have enough juice and would slow down and stop once a tape loop was loaded. Couldn't figure it out. Took the motor apart, cleaned it, rebuilt it. Nothing.
And then......it hit me. These things were built in the UK. Mine has a 2 prong North American plug but look untouched otherwise. Turns out there are a few wires on the transformer/motor that have to be swapped around for 110V operation. The last owner swapped the plug but that was all.
10 minutes and a little solder later it's done.

I love fixing stuff. It's like buying new stuff and getting rid of old junk all at once.
