I have tried the L2, the L3 and Ozone and, for my money, the Massey 2007 kills them all. I don't do any proper mastering, mind you....just the bumping up of rough tracks, demos, etc. The Massey is really cool and more versatile and musical than the others I have tried.

Sometimes I'll stick the Massey Tapehead before the 2007 with the both of Tapehead's knobs zero'd for a cool bit of edge.

Those Massey plugs are genius. The PSP Vintage Warmer is really cool too.

*note: none of these things will take the place of a proper mastering job, but for demo bumping on a budget, you can't go wrong.

After getting fed up with the absolute shittiness of the Waves L3 Ultramaximizer, I bought the MPL-1 Pro today ($118) and I love it.

It is what a limiter should be; transparent, powerful, fully tweakable, and transparent.

Did I say transparent?

Ya L3 can certainly leave its mark, I too had problems with it's interface. It took some time but after you learn how all there release, priority, adjusments work it can be a life saver. Still I agree not very transparent.

Just downloaded the Massey demos. I'm blown away by the C4 compressor and L2007 limiter. The latter sounds better than any software limiter I've ever tried, including Ozone, L2, Digi's own, etc.
