More specifically, I'm looking for something that might have a quick reference to where each instrument should fit in the mix, such as the bass drum taking up only some room around 80hz, guitar should fill in this frequency, etc.
I found a reference like this online a few months ago, but I've lost it... so I was wondering if there's any pretty effective references out there you guys have tried. I know mixing is about experimenting sometimes, but it's just nice to have to start a mix with. Thanks!
Are there reference guides for mixing each frequency online?

hhhhhmmmm....i dunno. nothing is any kind of 'one frequency'. like, the fundamental of your kick drum might be 60Hz, but there will be harmonics at 120, 240...beater slap at 4k....all manner of frequencies in between...
if you're playing an A barre chord on guitar you're coving a range of frequencies from 110-440Hz, and that's just the fundamentals.
and there's so many other variables. like, think of the range of difference between 'jah wobble bass' and 'bob weston bass'.
