Running more than 1 plugin at once

Post by stevebozz » Sun Jun 17, 2007 7:46 am

I'm frustrated that it seems to be the norm that DAW's only allow you to run one plugin on the screen at one time. I understand this is probably to cut down on CPU usage, but with the advances in machine power, I wonder what gives?

I found this thread, which mentioned WaveLab has this functionality.

I'm running Logic 5, but also use Pro Tools 7. Are there any programs out there that can let me stack (or rack!) plugins so I can modify multiple settings, check levels on each effect at the same time? Am I dreaming?

In Protools, open the plugin and hit the little 'target' button, it will stay on top...
You can do this with as many as you want I think, also sends, etc... anything with the target button on it.

if by "running" more than one plug-in, you mean having the user interface (the pretty part) displayed, Pro Tools can certainly do this. clikc that little "bullseye" in the corner and that makes it "sticky" otherwise, and the next plugin you open will display along side that one. You can use this to display as many as you can fit on your monitor. I'm pretty sure other other apps have similar function.

in pro tools you can also hold the shift key and click the next plugin you want to open.

OK OK OK! Sweet, it can be done in Pro Tools. Thanks for the heads up.
