hi all oppers -
it's been years since i used my studer a80... i am wanting to sell it to a friend of mine.. what's a good friendly price for it? it has the autolocator and is in great shape.... i paid 10K for it like 5 years ago or so, but i know they've declined fairly severely in price recently...
thanks so much,
rafter

Mark IV helps a lot. Those can actually punch from what I understand. A head report is only $150 or so. You might wnat to get one. I'd say $5k in this day and age would be good. It's a crappy time to sell tape decks. I'm trading one of mine for work on my house so I can get more value from it.

I hate to admit it. She's such a lovely beast. Her replacement isn't nearly as pretty...

my friend is offering me $2300 for it. i really think i don't want to keep it, because of the maintenance, speed of working, etc... i have a kid now and i can't work slow - don't have the luxury of time! also i really have come to grips w/the reality of me LOVING 4 and 8 track sonics.. the studer was just too nice sounding!
is it damn foolish of me to sell it for $2300? i DID pay 10 grand for it 5 years ago, and didn't abuse it at all. should i ask more for it? sell it elsewhere?
thanks for your brains, i've really been out of the tapeop loop for a while with all sorts of baby life...

I have the RADAR and a 1987 JH24 24-track. It seems like full records get done on the JH and smaller things get done on the RADAR. But that's a totally general stantement.

My fears have been confirmed!
Why not dump the JH24?
