Chandler Germanium Compressor, anyone?

Post by weatherbox » Fri Jul 27, 2007 10:05 am

Ok, looks too cool. Very selectable sidechain built in, wet/dry blend control, the usual Germanium-range feedback/drive... anyone tried it yet? That wet dry thing just seems so awesomely useful, what could be done on drums with that. I'd been thinking I wanted an opto comp next, but this might jump in line if it sounds as great as I'm hoping.

This has to be the fattest, squeeziest, most analog, in your face, kick ass compressor I've heard.
-Michael Wagener

Most analog?? :?

...sorry, just bugs me when catch-phrases mangle language. Words are important! We shouldn't go around subverting them!

yea, that guy has a real way with words. I sort of always imagine him speaking with the beer-commercial voice.

Haha, totally.

My buddy has a moog, and I said something about it being solid state and he said, with concern, "no, it's not solid state, it's analog." ...another victimn of marketing.

Anyway, that aside, that Chandler looks pretty cool!

Saw this thing at TapeOpCon and I have to say it is most bad ass!!!!! The mix feature alone is worth the price of admission to me. Thumbs up to Chandler who I belive are doing things that no one else really is.

True.

I got the zener limiter, and I already was loving the germ pre's... I know they are "fashionable" right now, but it really is for good reason: they rule.

Wade and Co. make some great, great stuff right now. Amazing, actually... voiced for what we are doing TODAY, but with a nod to vintage stuff.

(not in a beer ad voice, it just came out all advert copy writer style... ) ;)

For that "germanium" sound, how does adding it with the EQ hold up against the Pre? Is there any comparison?
It may be a garage, but it doesn't sound like one.

wow the germaniums are actually more "accessible" than the rest of their line. But you still have to buy a $200 PS brick. Which while lame, is cheaper than a lot out there.
