Juno-60 connected to a guitar amplifier

Post by joser111482 » Tue Jul 31, 2007 8:58 pm

My wife just got a Juno-60, but I'm asking this question for myself. Can I connect the Juno-60 to a guitar amp and have the signal remain clean, or would the high output of a synthesizer always make it sound dirty? Or would it just break it...

I was thinking about buying a guitar amplifier (we both have guitars, but neither one of us are serious guitar players) instead of those cheesy keyboard amps. Neither one of us would want anything that didn't have tubes in it.

So, can one run a synth through a bona fide guitar rig and have it sound clean? Or at all?

Or are there keyboard amps that have tubes in it?

Thanks for reading.

I don't know if it's the same on the 60, but my Juno-6 has an output switch for High, Medium, and Low, which scales the output volume. You should be able to get it to work with a guitar amp fine with that.

back in the day people ran those into guitar and bass amps all the time. as long as yo keep output reasonable it is fine. Also it will depend on what kind of amp. A Marshall will never get a a shiny clean sound. A Roland Jc120 will never get a great overdrive.
I'd look into a bass amp if you really are concerned about distortion.

Fuck, a bass amp would totally bring out those fat synth sounds, I would imagine.

Yeah, in that case, I'll leave the bass amp shopping to her, 'cause she knows her bass gear. It's more the suggestion I was look for, or rather, the confirmation that it could be done.

Thanks for your help guys!

I run my korg poly into my Mesa 400 bass amp all the time. It's pretty good.

I love my Juno-60 and have been playing through Gtr amps forever. Bass amps are usually the best. The keyboard amps that I?ve tried haven?t been that great. You should be able to get a pretty clean sound though, and a bonus if you have spring reverb.

yeah or better a guitar/bass amp like some of the old peaveys (dont laugh!) Then you could have your clean, your reverb and some fuzz.Or even a pedal steel amp. Those are made to be clean and wide frequency.
