New API 1608 Console, Finally Out!!

Post by jjbohn » Thu Aug 16, 2007 6:52 pm

Posted this elsewhere and it seemed to stir up some conversation...

I was at a demo of this unit. This is the prototype, the only one in existence. It's an amazing console and the price is suprisingly low. Check it out. It's amazing.

Rack-N-Roll Audio in Nashville is one of the only dealers of this console.

Try approx $50k for 16 channels. Prolly not in the average tapeop budget. I only know the pricing because I have stumbled across this thread on several different message boards today.

Yeah I think I read $90k for the 32 channel somewhere. That's tough because $90k buys you a hell of a nice used console now a days.

True. Now it can buy you a hell of a new console. An API Legacy Plus is my dream machine, but is too much $ for me (now). Something like the 1608 in the 32 ch version (3208?) really fits the bill (pun intended).

Totally. This looks like it could be a great solution for a whole lot of people. My whole thing is that if I were dropping $90k I'd be going the SSL route, but I think I'm in the minority in that regard. :?

Do you mean the AWS 900, or a used SSL?

If I got another board at this point, it'd be a 4k of some sort. I like my current console more than the AWS900 actually.
